Crochet an easy NO SEW Jelly Bean Lobster amigurumi. Make a playful plush with this crochet lobster pattern — perfect for pretend food play, ocean‑themed décor, or handmade gifts. This no‑sew lobster amigurumi is worked in one continuous piece, with the claws and feelers shaped as you go, so there are no extra parts to sew on later. Slightly more detailed than the other Jelly Bean sea creatures, it’s still quick to finish and works up to around 3.5 inches long. A full step‑by‑step video tutorial is included, so you can crochet along confidently — even slow it down if you’re new to amigurumi and feeling adventurous.

Playful Pretend Food with Your Crochet Lobster Pattern

Lobsters might be a favourite meal in many restaurants, but this mini crochet version is perfect for play. Its small size and soft claws make it a fun addition to kids’ play kitchens, or market‑themed toy sets. Pair it with crocheted veggies, fruits, or other “catch of the day” sea creatures for a pretend seafood basket. 🦞

Because this is a no‑sew lobster amigurumi, it’s safe and durable for imaginative play — no loose parts, just soft stitches. You can even use different yarn colours to mimic real lobster shells or create bright rainbow versions for extra fun. Handmade pretend food encourages creativity, and it’s a great way to teach little ones about ocean life while keeping playtime mess‑free.

The Jelly Bean Lobster amigurumi is shown using a combination of Hobbii Honey Bunny, Toucan and Baby Snuggle Yarns (similar to Premier Parfait Chunky), (light super bulky (6)).

Different Names for Your Crochet Lobster Pattern Around the World

Depending on where you live, your crochet lobster might be called something completely different. People often use local names for crustaceans, and including these terms can help you find patterns (and share your makes) with a wider audience. Here are a few you might see:

  • Crayfish – Often used in the southern United States, for smaller freshwater cousins of the lobster. Also used interchangeably with Lobster in Australia.
  • Crawfish – Another common spelling for crayfish, especially in Cajun and Creole cooking regions.
  • Crawdads – A nickname used in parts of the U.S.
  • Langouste / Langoustine or Spiny Lobster – Common in Europe and the Caribbean for clawless lobsters.
  • Lagosta / Langosta – The Portuguese and Spanish names used across South America and parts of Africa.
  • Rock Lobster – Found in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand; these have spiny shells and no claws.
  • Yabbies – Used in Australia for smaller freshwater crayfish found in rivers and farm dams.

While some of these creatures differ slightly from our Canadian Atlantic Lobsters, this no‑sew lobster amigurumi isn’t too detailed. It can easily stand in for all kinds of lobsters and crayfish around the world! Especially in pretend play or ocean‑themed toy sets.

I hope you enjoyed making your Jelly Bean Lobster! Real lobsters aren’t always red — they can be blue, orange, or even half‑and‑half in the wild, which makes this crochet lobster pattern perfect for experimenting with yarn colours. Try bright rainbow shades for pretend play, natural tones for ocean‑themed décor, or even make them in different sizes to create a  more realistic lobster family. However you customize yours, it’s a fun way to make each plush unique.
