Why You’ll Love This Free Frog Crochet Pattern
There’s a lot to love about this chubby frog amigurumi.
First of all, it’s no-sew, which makes the whole thing feel much simpler from start to finish. You can just sit and enjoy the crocheting without a pile of tiny pieces waiting for you at the end, and that’s always a good thing!
It’s also a quick project. Beginners can enjoy it because the shaping stays simple, and more experienced crocheters will probably find it a really satisfying little afternoon project. It’s the sort of pattern you can pick up when you want something cute on your hook and actually finish it the same day.
And of course, it’s a frog, which means it’s already halfway to being adorable before you’ve even finished it. Frogs just work so well as plushies, and this little rounded shape makes it even better.
Tip! If you’re making this for a young child, embroidered eyes are the safer choice over safety eyes.

Why Little Frog Plushies Are So Fun to Make
There’s just something about frogs that makes them extra fun in amigurumi form. Maybe it’s the round body, maybe it’s the raised up eyes, maybe it’s the fact that they already look cute in just about any colour. Whatever it is, they always end up being cute without really trying.
I think frogs are also a great choice when you want a pattern that feels playful without being complicated. This little frog works up fast, looks cool in plush yarn, and makes a nice gift or market make without needing loads of time or yarn.

How to Make This Frog Work for Gifts and Market Prep
This little frog is a really handy one to keep in mind when you need a quick gift. It’s small, soft, and cute without needing you to add anything to it, which makes it a great choice for spring gifts, baby gifts, little desk buddies.
It’s also a great one for market prep. Since this free frog crochet pattern doesn’t cost you anything to use, takes just a small amount of yarn, and can even be made with leftovers from your stash, it’s a nice option for keeping costs down. Frogs are one of those animals people seem to love straight away, so they’ll probably sell well. This pattern is a fun one to make in batches, another reason it can be really good for profit margins too.
Fun Frog Colours You Could Try
Classic green is always a cute choice, but frogs are also one of those animals you can have a lot of fun with colour-wise. Just think of poison dart frogs in Costa Rica. Since they don’t need to blend in, they come in all sorts of bright colours, which makes them such a fun bit of inspiration for a pattern like this.
You can keep your frog soft and natural, go bold and playful, or make a whole mixed little group if you’re using leftovers from your stash. Variegated yarn could work really nicely here too, especially if you want a spotted look without needing to add extra colour changes.
Things to Know Before You Start
Before you jump in, here are a few helpful things to keep in mind.
- Plush yarn can hide your stitches a bit, so a stitch marker is very helpful.
- A tighter tension will help keep the stuffing from showing through.
- This pattern is worked in the round, so if you’re newer to amigurumi, a stitch marker will really help you keep track of the beginning of each round. Magic Ring Tutorial
- The full video tutorial is especially helpful if you’re newer to plush yarn or amigurumi.
- If the frog is meant for a baby or young child, embroidered eyes are the safer choice over safety eyes.
- The finished size may vary depending on your yarn, hook, and tension.

You have now completed your Garden Button Buddies Frog Crochet Pattern.
Make Your Frog Bigger or Smaller
If you’d like to change the size of your frog, the easiest way is to switch up your yarn and hook. Plush super bulky yarn will give you a softer, chunkier little frog, while a lighter yarn will make the finished size smaller and more compact.
The pattern itself stays the same, but the final look can change quite a bit depending on the materials you use. That makes this a really handy free frog crochet pattern for stash-busting too, especially if you want to try a few versions in different sizes for gifts or market prep.
- a large plush pillowy frog for cuddles
- a tiny frog for a car mirror hanger
- a little bag charm or keychain frog
- a desk buddy made with worsted yarn
- RAOK frogs made from scrap yarn
- a small frog for Easter baskets or party favours
- a batch of market frogs in a few different sizes
- a pocket-size frog for a quick little gift
