Learn to crochet this quick, cute NO SEW Frog Crochet Pattern with this step-by-step amigurumi crochet pattern for Frankie the Frog! 

This adorable little free no sew frog crochet pattern is just over 3.5 inches and works up in under 1 hour! Perfect for craft markets, gifts, decor and more!  Crochet for anyone on your gift list. 

The pattern includes the options to add wire to the limbs, make them posable! The possibilities are endless with this little guy.  

Frankie the Frog is shown using Hobbii Honey Bunny (similar to Premier Parfait Chunky), (light super bulky (6)). This yarn works up beautifully creating a super cuddly friend.

What you will need to make your No Sew Frankie the Frog Crochet Pattern

Materials:

Hook size 5.0 mm (H) 

Yarn – Hobbii Honey Bunny

Main Colour – 20 yards (shown in various green tones in both Honey Bunny and Premier Parfait Chunky yarns)
Accent Colours – small amount of Pink and Black (medium weight or embroidery floss)

  • Polyester filling – small amount
  • 2 – 10mm black safety eyes (not suitable for children under 3):  See video for embroidering eyes as an alternative.
  • Stitch Markers or Safety pins to help with sewing placement
  • Yarn needle to weave in the ends
  • Floral wire or pipe cleaner (optional) – (not suitable for young children)
  • Tape/Floral Tape (optional)

Gauge: 4 Rounds of Gauge Pattern = 2.0 inch diameter

Gauge Pattern: Create a Magic Ring

Round 1: 6sc in the ring (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each st (12)
Round 3: *sc, 2sc* 6 times (18)
Round 4: *sc in the next 2 sts, 2sc* 6 times (24)

  • #sc, eg. (2sc, 3sc, etc) shows the number of scs to be completed in the indicated st
  • Sts listed between brackets are all worked in the same st, eg. (hdc, dc)
  • I highly recommend using a stitch marker to help keep track of the rounds for the body/head

 It is highly recommended to complete the No Sew Frankie the Frog pattern in the order the pattern is written.

Head/Body: The head and body are worked in one piece from front to back in continuous rounds crocheting the legs as you go.

Lining Up Back Legs 

Using Main Colour, create a Magic Ring

Round 1: 6sc in the ring (6)
Round 2: *2sc* 6 times (12)
Round 3: *sc in the next 3 sts, 2sc* 3 times (15)
Round 4: 2sc, sc in the next 4 sts, 2sc, sc in the next 2 sts, bobble st, sc, 2sc, sc, bobble st, sc in the last 2 sts (18)

Round 5: sc in next st, [ch 9, (make 1st toe) ss in 2nd ch from hook, ss in next ch, (make 2nd toe), ch3, ss in 2nd ch from hook, ss in next ch, (make 3rd toe), ch 3, ss in 2nd ch from hook, ss in next ch, (back to main ch),   If using wire (place down on flat surface with opening facing away from you bobbles side down, with leg out to the right side of the animal measure the wire from the centre of the body out to the next chain to be worked and fold wire in back towards the centre, twist the wire together leaving a loop at the ‘foot’ end, working the next st through the wire loop and then around the wire back to the body do not cut wire, sc in the next 6 chs]

sc in the next 6 sts of the body,

If using wire, wrap tape/floral tape around the ends of the wire.
Adding Eyes:         If using safety eyes, place in each bobble st from Round 4.  

Rounds 6-8: sc in each st (18)
Round 9: *sc in the next  4 sts, scdec* 3 times (15)
Round 10: sc in each st (15)
Begin Stuffing
Round 11: *sc in the next 3 sts, scdec* 3 times (12)
Round 12:

Lining Up Back Legs.
Place the animal down on a hard surface with the legs face ‘up’ and the head facing you.  Locate the 5 centre front sts and mark them with a stitch marker (the back legs will be placed on either side of these sts). Locate the far right marked st.  Count over 1 st to the right of it (if this is not the next unworked st then crochet over to this st, these extra sts will not count as the beginning of this round). (If left handed you will locate the left st and count 1 st to the left).
