New Pattern Release
Inspiration
Holiday decorating is in full swing over at our house! I’ve been feeling more sentimental lately. I don’t know if it’s just that time of year or because of the crazy year we’ve had. But, I’ve been looking back on older photos of the kids, searching through old photo albums of my childhood. Reflecting on all the beautiful moments life has brought us.
We have always had holiday photo frame ornaments on our tree, all purchased from a big box store. They are absolutely beautiful, but there’s just something about a handmade ornament. For years I’ve talked about making a set of crocheted Tree Ornaments. This year seemed like the perfect year to finally create them. Then I wondered how I could incorporate a photo frame into the designs to personalize them and make them extra special.

The process began…
I wanted to create adorable little characters that could be an ornament/toy on their own, but also give a photo frame option to personalize the ornament.
Choosing Materials
Deciding on yarn for these guys was super simple. I wanted something extra soft yet durable. I also wanted to make sure the yarn had a variety of vibrant colours to choose from. After searching through my stash and online, Brava Worsted Weight yarn from @WeCrochet was the only one that checked all the boxes. Not only is it a quality acrylic worsted weight yarn, but it’s easy to order and ships quickly. It’s a win win all around. I also went with 10.5 mm Black Safety Eyes from @SuncatcherCraftEyes. (You should also check out the amazing patterned eyes she has in stock <3). After testing out a few characters with these materials, I was absolutely smitten with them.
The Holiday Photo Frame Ornaments
The first 6 character set is more traditional and includes a Santa, Elf, Reindeer, Gingerbread, Snowman, plus sweet Snowy Owl. Each of the 6 Characters (soon to be 12 ;)) has its own unique style. They are all worked from the bottom up, the legs/body/head are worked in 1 piece, with the arms crocheted in as you go. Each pattern contains winter accessories and 1 of 4 different photo frames to complete your ornament.
The patterns consist of written instructions, with photo and video tutorials to help you along the way.
The holiday photo farm ornamment patterns can be purchased individually or as part of a 6 pattern E-book (Santa, Elf, Reindeer, Gingerbread, Snowman and Owl) available on Ravelry and Etsy
These lovable, photo frame ornaments have become my go-to gift to give this holiday season. They make the perfect gift for friends, family and teachers.
My hope is that these patterns can bring you and your loved ones joy and happiness this Holiday Season.
Happy Holiday Crocheting,
Sara <3
